If you're visiting the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary in Sandakan and are lucky enough to catch sight of some momma silvered leaf monkeys with their babies, you'd notice a peculiar distinctive trait of theirs. The little ones are of a completely different colour, a glowing orange hue instead of the silvery black of an adult. Experts believe this trait helps the babies in two ways - to aid the adults to better locate them in the dense green vegetation of the jungle as well as to better camouflage them from predators that are red-green colourblind.
